Education and Testing

As of January 1, 2018, the following changes to the SAVE International Certification Program have taken effect:

  • The old Module I workshop and Module II seminar no longer count toward VMA and CVS certifications.
  • The new Value Methodology Fundamentals 1 (VMF 1) course is required to take the VMA exam, and the Value Methodology Fundamentals 2 (VMF 2) course is required to take the CVS exam.
  • In April 2018, the new VMA exam will be available (the old VMA exam is no longer administered). The new VMA exam will be taken by an approved candidate via SAVE’s online proctor service.
  • In April/May 2018, the new CVS exam will be available (the old CVS exam is no longer administered). The new CVS exam will be taken by an approved candidate via SAVE’s online proctor service.

Please note that there are other requirements to apply for VMA and CVS certification in addition to the VMF 1 and VMF 2 courses. All of the necessary requirements are outlined in the new SAVE Certification Program Manual.

Certification Maintenance - PDU Accrual

Please see the PDU Accrual Summary for details about earning and tracking professional development units (PDUs) for certification maintenance, and what qualifies to earn PDUs.

Core Competency Education and Testing

The Core Competency Education and Testing document lays out the competencies and testing parameters for the VMA and CVS.

Objectives for VMA and CVS assume that the VMA exam and CVS exam are now separate tests, where a CVS examinee has previously passed the VMA exam. CVS examinees must receive approval to take the CVS exam and must be currently certified as a VMA. The Value Methodology Fundamentals 1 (VMF 1) course covers all information required to pass the VMA exam; the Value Methodology Fundamentals 2 (VMF 2) course covers additional information required to pass the CVS exam.

NOTE: Assumes VMAs participate as value team members and CVSs facilitate.

Note: The SAVE Certification Program Manual revision and its future revisions may update the certification information contained on the SAVE International website, and shall be the authoritative document over all matters concerning SAVE certification, superseding the website and any other previous documentation.
